Evan Loudon received the Boy’s Scholarship at the prestigious Sydney Eisteddfod McDonalds Ballet Scholarship, yesterday. With the Final held before a packed auditorium at the Sydney Opera House last night, Evan received a scholarship of $12,000 from a panel of distinguished adjudicators including the Australian Ballet’s Artistic Director David McAllister, the Sydney Dance Company’s Rafaela Bonachela, Director of the Dance Department of the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and President of the Artistic Committee of the Prix de Lausanne Wim Broeckx and doyenne of Australian ballet Marilyn Jones OBE.

A student of the Tanya Pearson Classical Coaching Academy since he was 8 years old, Evan Loudon (16yrs, Seaforth) has been accepted into First Year of The Royal Ballet School where he will commence next month.

Recipient of the 2008 Tessa Maunder Encouragement Award, and a Finalist in both last year’s Sydney Eisteddfod Robert & Elizabeth Ballet Scholarship and the SODA Intermediate Classical Ballet Scholarship, Evan received the Silver Medal at the Cecchetti Lucy Saranova National Ballet Competition. In 2009 Evan was also a Finalist in the junior division of the Youth America Grand Prix.

Mrs Tanya Pearson said “I believe Evan has enormous potential and talent. He has an ideal Classical physique and I am sure he will have a great career in Classical Ballet.”

The Sydney Eisteddfod McDonald’s Ballet Scholarship provides the most valuable and prestigious awards in the southern hemisphere.
