COOPER CRIDLAND HAYES AND OLIVIA BETTERIDGE SELECTED AS CANDIDATES FOR THE 2015 PRIX DE LAUSANNE

Tanya Pearson Classical Coaching Academy student’s Cooper Cridland Hayes and Olivia Betteridge, have both been selected as candidates for the prestigious International dance competition, the Prix de Lausanne. With 296 young dancers considered for selection, only 67 individuals made the cut.

“Both Olivia and Cooper are very talented students with great potential. Olivia not only has the ideal physical attributes for classical ballet but she has proved to be a highly intelligent dancer and receptive student who I feel will progress a great deal over these next few years. Cooper is an incredibly talented young man blessed with lovely feet and legs for classical ballet. He has worked extremely hard this year and overcome many challenges and obstacles along the way.

I am thrilled that the Prix de Lausanne have recognised the potential in both of these students and I know they will both gain and grow tremendously as dancers from this wonderful experience.”  states their teacher Tanya Pearson.

Cooper and Olivia will both both be appearing in lead roles in the Sydney City Youth Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker. Cooper will dance the principal role of the Prince and Olivia, the role of Clara, at select performances. The Nutcracker will be staged from Tuesday 16 December to Sunday 21 December 2014, at the Glen Street Theatre, Belrose. The Nutcracker will be presented under the direction of Tanya Pearson OAM and Lucinda Dunn OAM. Also a former student of Tanya Pearson, Lucinda went on to become the Australian Ballet’s Principal Artist and longest serving Ballerina.

In January 2015, Lucinda Dunn will step into the role as Artistic Director of the Tanya Pearson Classical Coaching Academy and the Sydney City Youth Ballet.
