The Cecchetti Saranova Awards is held in honour of Madam Lucie Saronova, a pupil of the Maestro Enrico Cecchetti. Madam Saronova established The Cecchetti Society of Australia in 1934.

Each state holds Enrico Cecchetti Medal Awards, culminating in the National Lucie Saronova Memorial Award where representatives from each state compete for medals and cash prizes.

Mia Sfara (16yrs) and Madison Devietti (17yrs) are the only two representatives chosen to represent NSW. Mia and Madison study full time at the Tanya Pearson Classical Coaching Academy where they study Cecchetti syllabus under the guidance of Robyn Ross and Valerie Jenkins.

The 2014 National Awards will be held at The Concourse, 409 Victoria Avenue, Chatswood, NSW commencing at 7pm on Friday 11thJuly. Tickets will be available at the venue on the evening of the event.

Thursday 13 March 2014 – In January 2015 Lucinda Dunn OAM will become the Artistic Director of the Tanya Pearson Classical Coaching Academy and the Sydney City Youth Ballet, it has been announced.

A student of Tanya Pearson OAM since the age of 13, Lucinda is one of Australia’s most celebrated prima ballerinas.

A graduate of the Academy, Lucinda won the Prix de Lausanne in 1988 before continuing her training at the Royal Ballet School, London.

Commencing with the Australian Ballet in 1991 her stellar career has seen her perform all over the world as the company’s Principal Artist and longest serving Ballerina.

With over fifty years of teaching, Tanya Pearson established the Academy forty-five years ago and now has graduates in ballet companies around the world. As such the Academy is internationally recognised as one of the most highly regarded selective classical coaching academies.

Lucinda has always maintained a close relationship with the Academy and the Sydney City Youth Ballet, often returning to coach as well as perform as a guest artist.

In making the announcement Mrs Tanya Pearson said, “I could not be more thrilled to have Luci carrying on the Tanya Pearson legacy.  She is not only one of my most successful students, but also someone I hold in the highest regard as a brilliant coach and teacher and perfect to continue the national and international reputation of the Academy.”

Lucinda Dunn said, “I’m honoured and thrilled to be Tanya Pearson’s successor, and will aim to enrich and challenge the students of the Tanya Pearson Classical Coaching Academy, as Mrs P has done over the past fifty years.”

From 1 January 2015 Lucinda will be the Artistic Director of the Tanya Pearson Classical Coaching Academy and the Sydney City Youth Ballet.  Mrs Pearson will continue to be present as Founder, with Nicole Sharp continuing in her capacity as General Manager.

Rory Ferguson

Rory Ferguson (17Yrs) and Valentina Markovinovic (17Yrs) have been selected from a worldwide pool of contestants to perform in the Finals Round of the worlds largest ballet competition. We congratulate them on their success and wish them all the best in the Finals Round which will take place in New York from 3 – 13 April 2014.

The Youth America Grand Prix is a global dance network connecting classically-trained young students, teachers, schools, companies, alumni, sponsors, dancers and choreographers to audiences who share a distinct passion for and love of dance.
