Academy student Cameron Holmes, offered contract with the Australian Ballet

Pre Professional student Cameron Holmes (recently turned 19)  has been offered a corps de ballet contract with The Australian Ballet, commencing immediately.

Cameron has been training full time at The Tanya Pearson Academy since the start of 2016 under Artistic Director Lucinda Dunn and full time teaching faculty. It has been his number 1 goal since joining the Academy to remain dancing professionally in Australia, passing up opportunities to study  overseas and trusting in the training he was receiving at the Academy to pursue this goal.

In 2017 Cameron embraced the opportunity to perform as an extra with the Australian Ballet in their 2017 Sydney season of The Story of Clara. Company and was then offered the opportunity to perform as The Prince in their recent touring season of “StoryTime – A Sleeping Beauty”.

Some of Cameron’s recent highlights whilst being at the Tanya Pearson Academy include winning the 2017  Cecchetti International Ballet Competition in Florence, being Runner Up Winner of the 2017 Sydney Eisteddfod Senior Ballet Scholarship, being overall winner of the 2017 Alana Haines Competition in NZ. In September 2017 Cameron also performed Le Corsaire Pas de Deux at the Sydney City Youth Ballet’s season of TOGETHER LIVE.

Top Results in the 2017 Cecchetti Examinations

Students of the Tanya Pearson Academy have received outstanding results in their Cecchetti Examinations this year. All students were awarded marks in the 90′s with 3 Academy students receiving 100% – Lucinda Worthing Shore, Cameron Holmes and Tyla Steinbach.   Lucinda Worthing Shore was also awarded the full-time Cecchetti Scholarship worth $500.

Students of the Tanya Pearson Academy have had great success at the recent Sydney Eisteddfods – Australia’s largest competition attracting students from all around the country.

All seven Academy students that entered the Sydney Eisteddfod Senior Ballet Scholarship were selected for the Quarter Finals. Four of these students (Janae Kerr, Cameron Holmes, Hannah Lyons and Isaac Shaw) were selected for the Semi Finals and we are thrilled to announce that three Academy students have been selected for the Finals. Only 8 students in total from all across Australia are selected for the Finals and they will each perform a classical and contemporary solo at the Sydney Opera House on Sunday 30 July 2017.

Congratulations to our Finalists – Janae Kerr, Cameron Holmes and Isaac Shaw.


A student of the Tanya Pearson Academy also won the 2017 Robert & Elizabeth Albert Senior Ballet Scholarship. Congratulations to 14 year old Grace Carroll!
