Think, Place, Dance
|
|
My belief and methodology for training young dancers often includes the phrase ‘Think, Place & Dance’. explains Tanya Pearson.
"When a young child commences ballet they mostly move instinctively, however soon they learn right from wrong and also to follow simple instructions given by the teacher. These instructions become more detailed as the student reaches approximately 10 or 11 years of age and they often begin to take ballet more seriously.
From experience, I found that young students of 10 or 11 years upwards understand logical visualizations which then can be applied by them and I demonstrate many of these visualization methods on this DVD.
This new DVD demonstrates how my “Think, Place, Dance” principals begin in the studio and can be applied to students of varying ages and in all exercises, starting at the barre and leading through to performance. "
Mr David McAllister (Artistic Director of The Australian Ballet) highlights how important these principals of ‘Think, Place, Dance’ are for a professional dancer and Lucinda Dunn (Principal Artist – The Australian Ballet) demonstrates how she applies these principals as Principal Ballerina.
